1. Introduced the method to children in classes K/1, 2/3 (fingert tip mode A) 4/5 (finger segment mode B) in Robert C. Parker School. The teachers are very supportive. Plan is to meet with them once a month to take feedback and train them in the other modes of practice.

2. Conducted an introductory class for some staff and relatives of the local Advertiser newspaper (total 5).
Ttheir feedback is in this page.

3.
Conducted an introductory class for registered public at the East Greenbush Community Library (total 14). Ttheir feedback is in this page.

4. One senior scientist in National Institute of Health practicing this finger tip mode for last 4 months said he no longer panicks about his work demands.

5. One of the priests at the local Hindu Temple has been practicing the finger tip mode for more than 6 months. Recentlly he appeared to have lost some weight. When asked to confirm he said it was true he lost some weight. Asked how, he said as his tension is reduced his weight automatically reduced. A priest who is in the service of God from morming to night, chanting prayers throughout the day also can be undrer tension and  is able to use and benefitr from this method!

1.
Introduced the 'Finger tip mode' to 15 Pre K children at Robert C. Parker School.  When they completed 2 hands some of them were yawning showing relaxation. Their class teacher attended my introduction to the faculty and liked it. I will be meeting with this group once a month.

2. Participated as a vendor at the 3rd Annual Active Aging Celebration at the Colonie Senior Services Center  and distributed the brochure to more than 100 visiting seniors . Explained briefly to about 15 seniors the 'Finger tip mode'. Many were interested in the fact it will help them sleep better.

3. The soft ware Engineer now at Hyderabad (India) (see May 09 # 3)  id not get relief from acidity. By following some suggestions for diet, water and diverting the mind from negative thoughts he reported 85% relief from acidity as well.

4. Started the 10 minute class for about 40 children of 5 - 8 years as part of the Heritage class on Sundays. They were taught the mode (A) of using finger tips. This group will be regularly addressed this year.

5. I briefly explained the finger tip mode (mode (A) in the brochure) to a 91 year old patient of Dr. Sripada when she was in the waiting room in  a wheel chair with her niece who attended my classes and had benefited. After completing 2 hands she commented "this is useful as I will have something to do". Her remark shows that such people with physical limitations get bored not being able to engage in activities and this practice can help them get relief from that boredom.

1. One more person (wife of an active participant) joined the weekly classes.

2. A home care agency worker  told her doctor (Dr. Sripada) that she picked up the brochure at our office and liked it. She made 50 copies of it and displayed at her work place and all were picked up quickly. This is the first case in USA of someone actively propagating the method by printing copies.

3. Introduced the 'Finger tip mode' to 20 summer camp children at Robert C. Parker School.

1.
Met the father of a 7 year old boy who was one of the 5-8 year old group of the Heritage class (Sundays) at Albany Hindu Temple (see May#5 below) . On inquiry abut his son’s practice if any, he said he saw his son practicing ‘counting breaths’ eyes closed, using his finger tips whenever he was angry. I remember this boy as the one who replied to my question to the group (after making them practice this mode for a few minutes, on 2/3 Sundays)  “when would you like to try this method?” . He replied “when I feel angry”. Look at this: A 5 year old kid understanding the method, liking it and finding a potential use for it, to be in control of himself when frustrated - all on his own, without any prompt from me or his parents!. What will be the life time impact of this practice? Imagine the potential of this method for children of the World!

1. One of the tellers at the local bank, to whom I gave the brochure a few months back, told me that it helped in her headaches.

2. O
ne patient (50+ years age, with a smoking history of 7 cigarettes a day for 20 years) saw the feedback from Michael (see April #3 below) in the brochure displayed in the waiting room in my daughter's medical office. He said he would try this method immediately, to stop smoking. When he visited after 5 weeks he reported it worked. On my request he sent this inspiring feedback.
" The Solution is Simplicity: Several days ago, while awaiting to meet with my physician, I read a booklet about the benefits of counting breaths. Out of curiosity, I tried several proposed methods, especially "finger counting." (see mode (A) on page 1 in this brochure) It seemed to relieve some tension, but I was fascinated to test the effectiveness of this techniques through a more practical implication; smoking cessation. I was, at best skeptical, as not only was counting breaths easy, and affordable, it as also a 'holistic' approach to addiction abatement. My first craving for a cigarette began shortly after my appointment, and instead of reaching into my pocket for a smoke, I tried counting breaths on my fingers tips. At first, my breathing was fast paced, nervous and a bit "hurried"; however, within a few minutes not only did the craving stop, but I felt more energized. That was four days ago. I still have cravings, though less frequent, still conditioned to light up at certain times, but I finger count. It is so simple that even someone like me who has no patience and desires immediate satisfaction, has found ‘counting breaths’ an "easy does it" resolution to an insidious condition, nicotine addiction. Try it just a couple of times, you will see, feel and be inspired by counting breaths. Again, give yourself a chance and try it out. You will not be disappointed." I do not now have his permission to post his name or e-mail.

3. Received this mail from a local lady medical student preparing for her exam:
" I completed my MBBS from Osmania Medical College/ Hyderabad India 2 years back. Me and my husband who is an engineer came to Albany recently. I came to know about your ‘counting breaths’ from a brochure that I found at Albany Hindu Temple. I am preparing for USMLE step1 right now and my exam is in August. I am really tensed at the moment. I am practicing ‘counting breaths’ since 2 days and I am really feeling very much relieved of my stress. I can concentrate more on my studies. So I wanted to thank you through this mail. Thank you very much. Seeking your blessings for my exam." I am now working with her through e-mail exchanges.

1. I gave a 30 minute presentation and demo to more than 100 visitors to the 'Third Goodman Diabetic Fair' organized by the Endocrinology Department of Albany Medical College on May 2, on their invitation. All of them practiced the finger mode
of breathing 3 times at each finger tip, eyes closed, for about  5 minutes. Hundred copies of the brochure specially made for this fair, were picked up by the visitors. Read from the American Diabetes Association web site how stress affects diabetes patients in two ways and the association's advice to learn to relax using breathing exercises.

2. Gave a demo of the finger mode (sitting) and silently counting mode (standing) to 50 children of Grade 6 from Loudonville school at the Albany Hindu Temple. All of them practiced with full concentration. A two page hand out specially made for children was distributed. Within a week the children sent me two huge 'thank you'  cards gift wrapped, with their comments on how they liked the methods I made  them practice, how they actually tried them on their own and the benefits they tasted in the few days. You can see them here - Transcribed (Summary)     Scanned (individual hand written comments)

3. The experiment in on-line coaching for the software engineer from Bangalore (now at Hyderabad) (see entry below at April #6) is going exceptionally well. In just 2 weeks, he developed the habit of practicing in the finger mode, sitting for about 30 minutes per session, in the morning or at night. After  just two months  of practice, his 2 concerns were reduced remarkably - headaches by 85% and acidity by 70%. This incident proves the adage in the spiritual field "The teacher appears when the student is ready!". I do not know how he found my web site and he is not able to recollect how he got it. But it happened and he is progressing. On my request, he has taken it upon himself, to propagate this method in his circle in India.

4. My daughter Dr. Padma Sripada MD Internal Medicine, has given this testimonial having seen how the method helped some of her patients over the last 3 years -
"
The focusing  on the breath technique is appealing in its simplicity, and absence of restrictive conditions that often hamper the adoption of most techniques of meditation.
I have introduced the technique to some of my patients with anxiety, panic attacks, hypertension and insomnia.
Everyone who has adopted the technique has reported it helps them relax. Some patients have reported it has helped then sleep better, and no longer rely on medications. The most remarkable effect was on a patient with severe panic attacks, who could not drive over a bridge without taking an anxiolytic first, is now able to drive over bridges without relying on medications!"

5. The class for 5-8 year old children (about 15 of them) attending the Hindu Heritage class is now regular with active support from Pratibha Gauri the coordinator and the parents present. The children are getting used to the finger mode of silently counting 3 breaths at each finger, completing 3-4 hands. In the last class , when I asked when they would like to practice this mode, one 7 year old boy shyly replied out of his own thinking "when I am angry!" to the utter  surprise of his father and other parents present. This once again shows the tremendous potential of this simple method for helping children, even in this age group, gain better self control on their own accord (not due to preaching by the parents or teachers).

6. Gave a 30 minutes presentation and demo of the method to 11 staff members at Albany Medical Center as part of their 'Healing Arts' program on May 27, 09. At the end of the session, one of the participants commented that the instructions for  practicing this method cold be audio taped and played in the hospital to help patients relax and fall asleep.

7. Started a Sunday class of 1 hour for 2 adults who picked up the flier at the temple and were interested. They have completed 3 classes .The remarkable feedback from one of them "Practicing the slow breathing, inhaling the cool air through the nose, and exhaling slowly through the mouth is actually helping to reduce tension during traffic and to be aware of the surroundings.  I know for sure that I cannot beat the traffic, but I can definitely use that available time to catch up with my breathing exercise which I sometimes forget to do after waking up. Similarly, started to do the same while walking from car parking to office, going to meetings etc.  It is helping to avoid distracting
thoughts and clear the mind to focus on next things to do.  Actually,  keeping the eyes open and doing breathing exercise is easier to do than closed.  Keeping eyes closed is making me focus on counting, but, sometimes it gives little heaviness in the head. Lastly, I am feeling more active nowadays, which helps me do more things in a day.  More to come... ". They are now posting their feedback in the googlegroup 'breath_feelers' . This group is currently open only for the actual practitioners by invitation. Please e-mail me if you are a practitioner and wish to exchange experiences with others.

1. A patient of Dr. Padma Sripada (our daughter), in whose office I work as a manager, told her that she had severe panic attacks when crossing any bridge. She could do it only after taking a medicine to relieve the panic. She practiced the method on her own. On her recent visit she said that she no longer needed to take the medicine for crossing a bridge.

2. One of my past students 76 years old, who attended many  classes said recently that she has been using the method extensively. As a result, her acute anxiety level came down beyond description. She was very fond of the coping concept of raising the question in her mind "Is what I am anxious about, a rope or snake?". This was one of the concepts we discussed during the classes. She liked it from day one.

3. See the first report of a smoker in USA, well on his  way to quitting.

One cashier in UPS store used to smoke 20+ cigarettes a day  for many years. Earlier he tried hypnotherapy but it could not help him. Here is his feedback.

"I was smoking a pack and half a day. I had been looking for a way to quit that would not require more money and the same old results. I was introduced to the 'counting breaths' methods. After just a week of doing the method once in the morning and right before bed, I was able to cut down smoking down to around 15 cigarettes a day from the previous 20 a day, by doing nothing more than the method. I now do it throughout the day and I am down to about 4 cigarettes a day. My goal is to be smoke free within the next month.
This is all due to doing the method: I am more relaxed, I don't need to lash out at everybody because I am edgy. The best part is, it costs me nothing to do, except for my effort into it. I didn't need any outside help like gum or patches; I  did it on my own which is a great feeling. My wife has now started this method and we are slowly getting into our children to do it too.
I highly recommend this for anyone of any age." April 23, 2009                   Michael S    e-mail: mksmail800@verizon.net

4. I introduced this method to children in KG/Gr1 and Gr 1/ 2 at Robert C. Parker School, in two 15 minute sessions. Both the class teachers ask the children every day, to practice a period of silence for a minute, using this method or any other.

Recently the mother and father of  2 girls (5 and 9 years) studying in this school said -

"We went to New York and having dinner at a restaurant. Our girls were getting bored. We were pleasantly surprised to find  both of them practicing the breathing method on their own, without any prompt from us."

The amazing usefulness of these methods to children of all ages from 2 to 15 is now proved beyond  doubt in all the trials I conducted from 2006 onwards and being continued.

5. Conducted a  demo of the method to 4 health professionals/ educators of the Endocrinology department at  Albany Medical College, Albany NY. This department is organizing the annual Diabetic Fair on May 2. 2009 at Albany NY. I will be conducting a session to demonstrate this method to the visitors to this fair, as requested by this department.

6. Received this surprising mail from a young Indian software Engineer from Bangalore -

"I am a software engineer in Bangalore, India. Daily I face many tensions and pressures. To over come that, I have started yoga but it is not much helpful. One of my friends said that there is a remedy for this, in breathing. I saw your web site in google search when I searched for some yoga techniques through breathing. I  want to know more about that. Are there any reference books suggested by you? Do you have any centers in India? I can come to any place in India.  Please reply."

I am now working with him by sharing a simple google document, in which he posts  how he  practiced each day. I  post my comments and suggestions every day. This is the first  experiment in on-line coaching.

March 2009
1. Gave a 15 minute demo of the method to the committee of 5 persons in charge of the 'Wellness Classes ' for staff at Albany Medical Center NY. They invited me to conduct an introductory class for their staff on May 27, 2009.

2. A middle school girl who
sometimes works  at the UPS store said she has been using the method before sleep.

3. Introduced the finger tip method to 15 children and some of their parents at the Telugu Class (A South Indian language class) at Niskayuna High School. They could happily practice it and felt good about it. After making them practice for a minute I asked the children when they could use the method. One girl of 8 years replied immediately 'when I want to sleep'!  She could immediately sense that this would help her sleep. Similar response is received from most children.

4. Albany Medical Center invited me to conduct a demo session of the method for 45 minutes, at their Diabetes Fair to be held at Desmond Hotel (Albany Shaker Road, Albany NY) on May 2, 09.

5. Started a regular 5 minute session for the juniors at the Heritage class children (5-8 years), practicing with the finger tips. They liked the practice and practiced happily on their own with eyes closed, after the demo done jointly with me.

6. The feedback from the mother of the 2 year old girl is a big hit. I added this as the front page of the fliers which have now become 3 sheets. People are very surprised that a mother could on her own train her 2 year old and get such remarkable results of sound sleep and control over anger achieved by her small child. It is out of the World. But for her message with name  and e-mail ID, nobody would believe it. I admire her openness to a new concept ,courage in trying it out and letting me use her name and e-mail ID to motivate more mothers.

February 2009
1. Gave a 15 minutes demo of the  finger tip  mode of practice (tailored for 5-8 year old children) to the Grade 2/3 and KG/1 classes at Robert C. parker School.

2. Comment from an undergraduate " Thank you very much for all the detailed explanation of the techniques on your website. I have been going through some real bad challenges in my under graduation here, during which I found using this technique to be very useful and relaxing. I shall make sure to pass on the word about this great technique to my friends also. Will keep myself updated  with regular visits to your site."

3. Comment from a person who picked up the flier from Albany Hindu Temple: "I live in Schenectady, NY and happened to see your 'counting breaths' technique in Albany temple. From what I read and understood, this practice of counting breaths seems to be very helpful and effective. I am interested to learn in detail. If you are organizing any training sessions, I would like to attend."           My  Reply

4. At Robert C. Parker School two of the teachers and the Director reported using the finger mode of practice when they needed to get back to sleep. Some of the children in the above 2 classes (See #1 above) are using this method during the silence period. One of the teachers said she forwarded the link to the web site to her daughter, on reading about anecdotes of relief from migraine.

5. Most surprisingly during my absence on 2 Sundays one of the boys (14 years) who has been doing these classes since last 3 years made the others practice in all the modes. All the children were happily responding to him! My dream of children teaching children has come true.

6. Made a beginning in teaching the method to children 5-8 years, using the finger tip mode.

January 2009
1. Met the male cashier at the UPS store. He told me happily on his own, that his smoking rate came down further to 4-5 now.

2. Met a patient in my daughter's office. She said she picked up the flier from our office and practiced the method on her own. She was happy it was helping her. She also two of told her coworkers about the method.

3. Collected the feedback from the children with whom I have been working for 15 minutes on Sundays. Their feedback in their own hand writing is presented as a link in the Children's Feedback page. It is amazing that many of them realize their own anger and use this method as a tool to control it.
They have been using it for a variety of other benefits. This shows how simple and powerful is this method in helping children develop themselves into better human beings, with their own efforts.

4. Started a trial with the simplest mode of the method (using tips of fingers, eyes open version) tailored for 5 to 8 year old children. Introduced the method to about 7 parents and asked them to introduce it to a small group of children present. The session went off very smoothly and I saw that the little children were happily doing it. The trial will continue and the results shared here.

5. An office manager told me that her printer at home was giving her lot of problems and she was very mad at it, feeling like throwing it out of the window. She could feel the top of her head getting hot. Then she suddenly remembered about the method and took a few long breaths and cooled down.

6. A lady on the stage with a group about to begin singing found the words of the song blanking out of her mind and immediately started practicing the method. She could immediately calm herself down and sing normally.

7. Gave a 15 minute demo of the method with various options to about 14 faculty and staff at Robert C. Parker School . Two of the class teachers wish to make this a daily practice. Gave a 15 minute demo to the 2/3 grade class. Demo for the KG/1 class will be in a week.

8. One of the priests at the Albany Hindu Temple started practicing this method after my persuasion. He went to India and returned after a few months. When I met him recently, he said he continued to practice the method in India at bed time when he wanted to sleep and many thoughts were racing in his mind.

December 2008
1. Met one of the long standing participants of a regular spiritual group to whom I gave the flier a few months back. She said she was practicing the method before sleep and it works!

2. Met the male cashier at the UPS store. When asked how his practice was going, he said it was going slowly. When asked for details, he said that before he started practicing this method (July 08, 5 months back ), he was smoking a pack of 20 cigarettes a day. Now this has come down to 12 a day, a reduction of 40%. He was hopeful of  complete quitting. He confirmed that he was not trying any other treatment to quit smoking. He said many years back he tried Hypnotherapy but it  did not help him.

3. Met the Brigadier General and his wife at our office and inquired about his actual practice, for the first time. He said he was every day active and sometimes he feels pain in his jaw and neck, due to arthritis. At those times, he practices the 911 method and his pain goes away. He also said he gave the flier to his own army surgeon who operated on him and he was practicing the method. Next time he meets him, he would ask for the feedback. He now becomes the oldest known practitioner of this method, proving that even at 93 years, one can pick up this method, practice on own without any teaching or guidance, like it and enjoy its benefits!

4. As told by our daughter Dr. Padma Sripada - "A patient of mine, a clinical social worker at a local hospital told me that she picked up the flier from the holder of  at the waiting room and liked it. She is making copies of it and handing out to the patients she works with".

November 2008
1. Feedback from one of the participants of my weekly follow-up classes at Albany Hindu Temple on Sundays 12 to 1 pm: She attended 5 classes and enrolled for another 5 classes.

"Mind is calmer in dealing with people and also the daily life frustrations.Things which used annoy me a great deal in past, still bother me but the intensity has gone down. Some times, I feel I a have a little more control over my wandering mind than in the past."

2. Two out of the 4 participants of my weekly classes at Albany Hindu Temple enrolled for another 5 classes to practice at Level 2 which  focuses on body sensations along with breath tracking.

3. Met the teachers of our grand daughter at school during the parent teacher meeting. Both of them said they ask the class children to 'go into their silence', practicing the breathing method, to help themselves calm down, 2 times a day. It helps the children a lot.
October 2008
1. Met the provider relations representative of an insurance company, to whom I gave the flier, a few months back. She told me she was practicing the method to induce sleep and it worked.

2.  Met the person who delivers medical supplies to our office, to whom I gave the flier many months back. I found the characteristic change in his face, this time. When asked about the method, he said he was practicing it and found it helping him sleep.

3.  Met the Brigadier General at a stores. He said he wass practicing the method often. He said he had lot of friends at the VA (Veteran's Army i.e, ex-defense personnel). Gave him a bunch of fliers to mail to this friends. He said he would like to mail the flier to people all over the World.

4. An IVF (in-vitro-fertilization) specialist was given the flier about an year back. He himself has been practicing the method to reduce stress. He believes in holistic approach to health problems. He feels people with infertility problems need to reduce stress. He has been giving the countingbreaths.com web site address to his patients regularly. When asked if he had feedback from any of them, he said 'No' because once they become pregnant, they meet only his mid level staff. He said he would add a link to  countingbreaths.com in his practice web site albanyivf.com under the wellness section.

5. An office manager 70+ years, has been practicing this method for more than a year, mostly in bed to get sleep. Recently I told her about the alternative method of tracking the breaths, using the finger segments of both hands. Today she said she is using this method whenever she has difficulty in getting back to sleep, after it is disturbed midnight, by her cat who sleeps on her back or the dog who wakes her up when it has to be taken out.

6. The lady who cleans our office on week ends was given the flier long time back. She happened to come to our office early on a Friday.  When asked about the method, she said she uses it to fall asleep and likes it .She recently used it when she was sick and felt better due to it.

7. 'Counting Breaths' received a surprising endorsement from an IVF (in vitro fertilization) specialist Dr.  Peter Horvath as you see in the home page. I had simply given the 2 fliers when I met him at the Tae-Kwon-Do (martial arts class) where I take our grand daughter regularly about an year back. He had been practicing it off and on and told me that he was recommending it to his patients to reduce stares. Recently on his own, he said he had put it in his web page 'Health and Wellness - Exercise and Stress Reduction' page.  I have made a separate page to present the endorsements by professionals.

September 2008
1. Feedback from one of the participants after 5 follow up classes " I really enjoyed your classes and experienced for the first time the fact that meditation can be done so easily.  It is simple, meaningful and practical.  I am regularly following this technique and can tell you for sure that it has tremendous effect on my health.  I don't get headache as often as I used to. Thanks for teaching and hope to learn more from you in due course."

2. Gave the flier to the owner of the cleaning company of 70+ years about 2 months back. A few days back, I called her for a business mater. At the end of our conversation, she told on her own " Thank you for the breathing method. I was undergoing dental work a few days back. My dentist was surprised at my unusual calmness and asked me how was it I was not clenching my fists as I used to before. I told him I was practicing some calming technique. It was really helpful during that time."

3. Gave the flier and complete booklet to the senior librarian of the local library about 8 months back. Whenever I used to come across him he was telling me that he and his wife have been practicing the method and happy about it. A few days back he told me he was practicing mostly at bed time and enjoys good sleep. He also told happily that he lost 15 pounds. Asked how it happened, he put both his index fingers at his temples pointing to his head and said it is all here! Many others have attributed the weight loss to practice of this method.

4. Gave the flier to a patient of my daughter, who is a maintenance worker and gardener, a few months back. He has told me more than once that he was practicing it and getting good sleep.

5. An office manager (lady 70+ years) had been using the method mostly before sleep. Recently she had surgery. She used the method when she was in severe pain and no sedatives were given. It helped her bear the otherwise unbearable pain. When I explained to her the '911' method to be able to bear such pains, she said she recollected her child birth 40 years back. She was advised to slowly breath out to relieve the labor pains.
Another lady also told that she practiced the method a lot, before her surgery, to relieve anxiety.

6. Did an introductory class of 1 hour, for 4 ladies, at the local Good Buy Books store, East Greenbush NY.

7. Started  the Sunday meditation class for 14 children aged 8-14 who attend the Indian Heritage class at the Albany Hindu Temple. The session is for 15 minutes. The organizers of the Heritage class wanted this meditation session, being convinced of its usefulness from the experience of last 2 years. This weekly class will continue till April 2009. This is the third year for this class. I have been gaining many insights into how this method can be introduced to this age group, with assured results.
August 2008
1. Gave the flier to the sales rep of a phone book company about a month back. He came recently to our office and told he was practicing the method and found it useful.

2. Gave the flier when I met my eye doctor about 4 months back (See April 2008 below). He has been using this method along with other methods of meditation since about 3 months. Recently I visited him. As soon as he entered the exam room and saw me, he spontaneously told me that he has been using the method to induce sleep and when he was with a difficult patient.

3. Gave the flier to a senior person at the Albany Hindu Temple. Next time he saw me, he remembered about it and inquired whether I was teaching the meditation at the temple. I told him to try the method as per the flier to fall asleep. Recently I was eating at a dinner party at the temple. He was passing by my table and told me on his own with a beaming face, that he was using the method to sleep and found it effective.

4. Feedback from the mom of the 8 year old boy attending classes at the Hindu Temple:
"I checked with my son today about the meditation when we were having dinner. He says that he noticed some change in him but not able to express it properly. I took him to work with me on Wednesday. One of my friend said her husband was reading a book when she suddenly woke up at 2 am in the morning. Immediately my son reacted and said he needs to meditate and started to explain the breathing technique to my friend. I am surprised by his reaction. I gave a copy of your flier to my friend.
I think he is following you but cannot say if he is able to perform always."

July 2008
1. I visit the local bank regularly for my office work. I gave the flier (pamphlet) of the method to the manager long back and he has been practicing the method. He was happy it helped him sleep better. About 2 months back, I gave the  flier to one of the tellers who appeared to be receptive. After a month when I asked her if she read that she said it was lying on her table. After about a month (a few days back)  when I asked her how was the method she said spontaneously that it was very good. She was
trying to reduce weight and on a diet and exercise program. She found the method useful after exercise for relieving muscle spasms and relaxing overall.

2. The second cashier at UPS store (See May 2008 #2) told with a smile on my inquiry that she was using the method and found it working. She was using the method whenever she was feeling stressed out or angry.
The male cashier at the same stores said he also started practicing the method before sleep. He wanted to see how it will help him stop smoking. His is the first family I know of in which parents and child are practicing the method.

3. A pregnant lady was practicing the method after many friendly reminders from me. In her sixth month, she had sudden pains causing great anxiety. She had no immediate access to her doctor and did not know what to do. She told that she could calm herself by practicing the method  till she could get medical attention.

4. Shared the basic method with a small group I met at a birthday party in 10 minutes. I did not give them anything in writing. One of the listeners in his forties was listening without showing much interest. I met the same person after about 2 weeks at another party. He voluntarily told me that he was practicing it and found it useful. He asked me for this web site name to get more details.

5. Gave a demo of the method in 15 minutes to 12 members of a fellowship group at a church in Taborton, Sand lake NY state and distributed the fliers. They actually practiced feeling the coolness of in-breaths and counting during the out-breaths for about a minute. Most of them were seniors. One of them was 99 years and another 92. All of them said they clearly understood the method and said it was an easy one. One of them said that just one minute of practice was relaxing.

6. Started a weekly class of Meditation for 3 adults in forties and 2 children of 8 and 10 years at Albany Hindu Temple. They paid a donation to the temple committing for 5 classes.

7. Gave the fliers about the method to the two clerks at the post office that I visit often and briefed them about its benefits. After about 2 weeks one of them told she was practicing it and found it useful. After about 2 months I met the second clerk. She said she was using the method and "it works".

8. Gave the flier to the provider rep of an health insurance company about 2 months back. He came recently to our office and told happily that he was practicing the method and found it useful.

June,2008
1. Introduced 'Counting Breaths' to the children in our granddaughter's class of Gr 2/3, at Robert C. Parker School, Wynantskill New York. There were 17 children along with their 2 class teachers. The session was for 15 minutes. After the children learned and practiced the method for about a minute, I asked them how they felt during the practice. Their responses - 'it was relaxing', 'muscles were relaxed', 'it made me yawn', 'I felt sleepy', 'my body was melting' and 'I felt like I was in a bubble'. I asked them when they would like to use this method. Their responses - 'when angry', 'in the bus' and 'before sleep'. All these were their own ideas, based on just one minute of 'Counting Breaths'! They were smart enough to appreciate their needs and found potential uses for this method after just a touch of practice!

2. The Brigadier General cited below (May 2008 #1), brought his wife to the doctor for a follow up visit. He said his grandson (42 years) saw the booklet in his hands and grabbed it. In this visit, he wanted to buy 5 copies of the booklet to mail to his relatives. He bargained on the price, saying he would be incurring additional mailing cost. We agreed on $4 per booklet, to cover the costs of paper, printing and plastic cover. He paid $21 for 5 booklets instead of $20, saying he wanted to please me by paying an extra Dollar!

May 2008
1. I work at our daughter's medical office as a manager. I keep some copies of the fliers cited below and a copy of the 65 page booklet 'Relax - Any place, Any Time' in the waiting room. A retired Brigadier General from US Army, 93 year old, fit and active, brought his 92 years old wife, who needed to see to the doctor. He was very active, talking to people and looking through the fliers and magazines displayed in the room. He saw the above booklet, was interested, and bought it for $5.

2. I print the fliers (pamphlets) containing the 2 documents 'Tip Sheet' and 'Basic Method' at the local UPS store, to give to select people and display at some local places for people -to pick up. As a routine, I pick some of the people whom I meet regularly, hand over the fliers and ask them to try the method when they need to sleep. I gave these fliers to one of the cashiers at the UPS store one day. He said he would give them to his wife. At my next visit, he told me that his wife was practicing the method, and felt happy about it. She taught the method to their 13 year old son, as he was getting very stressed before the class tests. She also put the flier on the bulletin board of CSEA Albany NY which is her work place. I gave the fliers to the second cashier also. She looked indifferent to it.

April 2008
Gave the flier and booklet to my eye specialist. He said he was already practicing some technique and will look into this. After two more visits and inquiries he said he was practicing this method and found it was supplementing what he was already practicing.
